Made in Germany for 148 years

When Benno Schilde, the pioneer of German fan technology, set up his company in Bad Hersfeld in 1874, he had no idea that some 140 years later the site would be home to one of the most modern fan production facilities.

At first Schilde made cast iron, and later steel, exhaust fans for industrial drying. The engineers built on this knowledge and over time started producing the highest quality fans using reliable techniques.

This is how Benno Schilde AG came to manufacture and sell the first air heaters to heat industrial premises, using the Thermon® trademark.

Our roof, centrifugal and axial flow fans are tried and tested and also have a long history.

In short, over the course of 140 years a very successful company with innovative products grew out of the Schilde AG tradition. Almost all branches of industry use the different TROX TLT GmbH fans.

Today, TROX X-FANS GmbH offers an extensive portfolio of fans for technical building services, smoke extraction, ventilation, air heating and industrial applications.

  • 1874 Benno Schilde machine and instrument factory in Bad Hersfeld founded
  • 1878 Benno Schilde AG's first centrifugal fan
  • 1966 Production facility set up at 68 am Weinberg, in Bad Hersfeld
  • 1970 Turbo Lufttechnik founded, based in Zweibrücken
  • 1971 First fire effluent fan for smoke extraction from buildings
  • 1972 Acquisition of Tromag, based in Bebra
  • 1973 Acquisition of Turbon, based in Berlin
  • 1975 TLT-Babcock Inc. founded in the USA
  • 1995 All European Babcock Borsig fan construction companies consolidated as Turbo Lufttechnik
  • 1996 Acquisition of KK&K-Sparte Ventilatoren
  • 2002 Turbo Lufttechnik GmbH insolvency, caused by the insolvency of Babcock Borsig AG.
  • 2003 The KK&K group takes over Turbo Lufttechnik GmbH's sites in Germany. Name changed to TLT-Turbo GmbH.
  • 2006 Siemens Energy acquires the KK&K group, including TLT-Turbo GmbH. New Training Centre opens in Bad Hersfeld at the am Weinberg site on September 1, 2006
  • 2011 Modernisation of the research and development department on Seilerweg completed as part of the regeneration of the Schilde site.
  • 2012 TROX GmbH acquires the building ventilation division. The new TROX TLT GmbH founded on October 1, 2012.
